Genesis 6:7 “And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.”
The Great Maker of everything also knows how to unmake. He has every right to do as He wills with the things He has made. Yet He never destroys casually or capriciously. His name and character are pure Love, and such love could never let a rogue world continue unchecked in its flagrant, foul and self-destructive foolishness. Yet before taking action God sends warning and gives His reasons. He doesn’t keep His intentions concerning us to Himself.
How was it known that God said He would destroy man? The answer is obvious. He told somebody. He wanted the people to know, because the very reason He gives for destroying them carries a clue as to the solution: repentance. God’s repentance should have triggered their own. So today. The world is about to face its final destruction, and our only hope is to look to our Maker and what He has done and is doing for us, believe His Word, and pattern our response on His.
