Genesis 4:10. What Have You Done?

Genesis 4:10 “And he said, What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.”

God doesn’t argue with Cain’s snappy retort. Instead, He asks a powerful rhetorical question to drive home to Cain the heinous nature of the crime he has just committed. Then God takes up the victim’s case. Like a loud voice, the blood of the faithful martyr always has God’s attention, and He will mete out justice for His people who have been wronged, abused and killed.  The heart-wrenching cry of Abel’s flesh and blood parents no doubt also rang loud in God’s ears as they grieved their double bereavement: a son murdered and a son lost in the dark labyrinths of stubbornness, pride, envy, hatred and self-justification.
