Genesis 3:8a “And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day:”
I am so glad that God is not like us. He doesn’t jump to judgment even when He has every right to do so. He is not a hasty God of jealous reprisals, nor does He immediately cut us off when we break trust. On the very day of humanity’s great failure, the voice of God was heard, not booming down from heaven, but on the still evening air. God came down. He gave immediate evidence that He had not changed toward us, it was we who had changed toward Him. God did not draw away, He did not cut Adam and Eve off, or give them a stony silent treatment. After giving them time to think and reflect, He came down to them and walked in the garden in the cool of the day. He not only made Himself available, He came calling.
