Genesis 2:23 “And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”
Adam was on a role with the naming business. When he woke up and saw his partner, he picked up his job right where he had left off. The first name he gave her was woman, not Eve, and it was a name full of faith in the Word of God. How else did Adam know that Eve came from his rib when he slept through the whole process, if not by the Word of God? Whether God explained the procedure to Adam ahead of time when He promised to "make him a help meet for him" (Genesis 2:18), or whether He kept it a secret until afterward so as not to ruin the surprise, either way, Adam clearly took God’s word at face value as to the origin and appearance of Eve. Not only had he slept through the whole process, but he surely woke up without a wound, scar or any trace of his recent surgery. I doubt he felt even a bit groggy. The woman in front of him was all the evidence he needed to believe the Word of God. How about you? Will you finish the work God gives you? Will the names you give and the words you speak affirm your faith in what God says?
