Genesis 2:20. God Puts Us to Work to Teach Us Our Lack

Genesis 2:20 “And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.”

When Adam fulfilled his high privilege and responsibility of participating in God’s work of creation, he learned beautiful things about His Creator, but he also learned something very important about himself. As he discovered that all of God’s creatures came in pairs, he no doubt began to wonder, where’s mine?

The same principle holds true today. As you respond to God’s call to participate in His work of redemption, your own needs and deficiencies become glaringly obvious. At the same time, however, you will constantly see evidences of God’s goodness, wisdom and power to provide for your lack, and you will learn what it means to wait on the Lord.
