Genesis 2:6. A World Without Dry Spots

Genesis 2:6 “But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.”

God built the earth with its own integrated irrigation system, and the coverage was impeccable. When I worked for my University’s Grounds Department, the irrigation crew often had to spend hours tinkering with sprinklers to try to get them to hit every corner of the flower beds and lawns and eliminate the dry spots. In God's perfect creation, there are no dry spots.

Have you taken the time to identify the spiritual dry spots in your life? Or are you so accustomed to desert living that Death Valley dry is your normal? How much of your character lacks the softening and subduing showers of the Holy Spirit of grace? God has made ample provision for all your dry spots. He offers you full coverage today, so your soul may flourish like a watered garden. Don't settle for anything less.

The Word of God is bread from heaven. God sent it, but we must gather it, appreciate it, digest it, and live by it. These days it is increasingly scarce. Many are starving for it and don't know it because they keep feasting on bad bread that doesn't satisfy. But if we would learn to carefully gather up the fragments of the True, Heavenly Bread of Life, we would always enjoy a feast of crumbs, because even God's crumbs are miracles mighty to save (Mark 7:24-30).
