Genesis 1:15-16 Be All the Light You can Get

Genesis 1:15-16
“And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.”

God had already made the light on day one. Now He put it into vessels and placed them on a path through space with the function of imparting to earth the light He had given them. The two great lights are not great because they are bigger and better than any other light in the sky, but because of their nearness to earth. These great lights function as “rulers” but they were created after their domain of night and day was already well established. This is a clear indication that rulers are to serve and benefit those they rule.  They were created for their dominion, their dominion was not created for them. In our world today, most rulers turn this Biblical principle upside-down and play it backwards. But if you would be a ruler according to divine design, you must learn to put yourself last. Learn to serve. Would you be a great light in someone’s life? You must come near to them. Receive all the light of God that you may shine upon them, and stay obedient on the path He has outlined for you.
