Genesis 1:14 “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years;”
Not only did God divide the light from the darkness, he put signs in the sky to call attention to that fact, and simultaneously mark time. The only unit of time (apart from the fractions of a day, counted in minutes and seconds) that did not receive a dedicated sign in the heavenly lights and bodies was the week! Did God establish any sign to mark the seven-day week? If not, why not? Tuck that question away, and keep reading! What about lights to signal the ending of time for this earth? If God marked the beginning of time with so many signs, wouldn't it stand to reason that the end of time would be indicated by no lesser display?
