Genesis 1:9. Gather with God

Genesis 1:9 “And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.”

Gathering and consolidation is another aspect of creation. God put the waters together in one place and revealed dry land. Whether God made the land that very day, or simply uncovered land that He had already made earlier, either way, He must have made it dry that same day!

God is still in the business of gathering and transforming. “For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.” (Isa 54:7). “The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel sayeth, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.” Isa 56:8. When the time comes and it serves His purposes, God will gather what He has made, or in the case of redemption, those He has remade, and make them appear for what they are. “Gather my saints together unto me…” He says in Psalms 50:5a. Making saints out of sinners is more miraculous than pulling dry ground out of an ocean.

What about you? What things need to be gathered up in your life? What is God calling you to gather up, that nothing be lost? (John 6:12). “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad” (Mat 12:30.)

The Word of God is bread from heaven. God sent it, but we must gather it, appreciate it, digest it, and live by it. These days it is increasingly scarce. Many are starving for it and don't know it because they keep feasting on bad bread that doesn't satisfy. But if we would learn to carefully gather up the fragments of the True, Heavenly Bread of Life, we would always enjoy a feast of crumbs, because even God's crumbs are miracles mighty to save (Mark 7:24-30).
